PMO's Main Roles
Assisting managers in planning project schedules:
- Gathering data from various parties involved in the project/s.
- Defining the list of tasks, their interdependencies and priorities, and allocation of resources for these tasks.
- Planning versions / sprints.
- Preparing the Gantt charts for the project/s.
- Coordinating teams and projects.
Assiting in ongoing project schedule tracking activities, such as:
- Collecting task execution and requirement change information.
- Updating schedules based on the data collected.
- Identifying problems in short (sprint), medium (features, versions, milestones) and long term (roadmap) based on the updated data, forwarding warnings to appropriate parties, and sometimes suggesting solutions.
- Preparing and conducting periodic tracking / status meetings.
- Evaluating the impact of project definition changes.
- Generating and presenting reports and warnings.
Tracking additional action items.
